When the solenoid coil is not energized,
there is free ow through the valve from
3 to 4 or 4 to 3 and from 2 to 1 or 1 to 2.
When the solenoid coil is energized,
there is free ow through the valve from
3 to 2 or 2 to 3 and from 4 to 1 or 1 to 4.


